How Do You Wake Up?

How do you wake up?

Good morning gorgeous,

Waking up in the morning is such an important thing and kinda sets the tone for your whole day if you let it.

There are so many possibilities of how we can wake up:

waking up peacefully with birds singing outside of your window,
waking up in your lover’s arms,
waking up to the smell of coffee
MOST likely you wake up when your alarm goes off and you are buried under your pillow and can’t believe that the alarm goes off already… and all the craze in your head starts immediately, no time for selecting your thoughts because you need to hurry out of bed to be somewhere on time.

You might feel grumpy and snap at your kids, husband, dog… whoever is around.

Sleep for me is very important. I used to think that I need at least 8-9 hrs. Unfortunately I do not have the time for that, since I am working full time in my job as a Sales Director + I have my coaching practice. So I decided one day that my body will be totally fine with 4,5-6 hours of sleep. The interesting thing was that I was able to condition myself and really did not feel tried and burned out with less sleep. That was a game changer for me, cause my day go longer by 2-3 hours, wow!

To be honest, I did not cope to well with only 4,5 hours of sleep per day, but if it is an exception that it’s fine. 6 hours is more my normal. You probably wonder why I write these numbers so exact and I really calculate my sleeping time. I have learned that the body has 90 minutes phases so in the middle of these 90 min. you are in your deep phase, waking up from this will leave you with the feeling of very tired and exhausted. So for 4,5 hours I get 3 of these phases and for 6 hours I get 4 of these.

Once you pay attention to your sleeping habits, you can then influence it by setting your alarm wisely. If you start doing that it can happen that you wake up 5 min. before your alarm easily and you are totally fresh and relaxed.

So that is one part of the story, the other one is about your THOUGHTS!

If you week up and you are not feeling good you will most probably have negative thoughts connected. When I wake up in the mornings I try to choose a nice thought, something uplifting before I start with my morning routine.

Sometimes of cause I forget that, because I am human 🙂 and when checking in on my feelings I try to manage them, so they don’t manage me.

Another thing I love to do is just saying something nice to my husband when waking up: like good morning sunshine or hero or whatever I feel like 🙂

Maybe you remember these times when you started dating with your loved one and you could not wait for the moment he or she was waking up, so you could look into their beautiful eyes. So month and years later we have forgotten about this magic and we just think we have to function and to carry on with our day.

STOP right here and give it a try! Pay a compliment you really mean from your heart and see how the other person feels and how you feel.

I know, it’s so slimy and strange when an adult walks around with a great mood in the morning and give compliments instead of being grumpy and in the “don’t talk to me mood- I am tired.

Just give it a try and see what happens. You need to take some responsibility here because you are not only setting up your day, you are also helping someone else and you influence someone else like your spouse, your kids, your dogs, your cats, your goldfish….

Start your days off differently for the next 10 days and see how you feel if you focus on positive thoughts and balance in the mornings. You will feel so much more energy and love and joy.

So wishing you a wonderful day today and don’t forget:

Stop JUST dreaming, act NOW!
