3 Key Points:
- When you’re stuck, step back, take a deep breath, allow yourself to pause and relieve the pressure then rethink a new strategy, and start to process it.
- It’s really wise to step back from your work, and to have a look, and to engage with your audience to engage with your clients to really know what they feel and what they think.
- Allow yourself to stay in the stuckness so it could go away and then feel the urge to come back to your body of work to continue what you love to do.
Show Notes:
[3:30] I realized that every time I have a conversation, and I’m introducing my amazing, amazing guests that I kind of forget to say something about me.
[4:58] I really had to step back for a moment, and maybe you know that when you procrastinate, when you have the feeling, you’re totally, totally stuck, that you just have to take a deep breath and let go of whatever is holding us back.
[7:42] Oftentimes your clients or your listeners, just see the product they don’t see the sweat behind it, the frustration that comes with producing things so share with them the struggles because you know it will help them, it will shorten their timeline.
[8:29] I do get a lot of positive feedback. But still, it has not helped to overcome this period of procrastination. So I stepped back, I gave myself permission not to record, not to stress myself. And then a couple of days later, I felt the urge, right like the fire was rekindled inside of me, I felt I wanted to do something.
[10:11] I want to share with you the struggles in my business in my podcast creation because I know it will help you, it will shorten your timeline.

Hey Gorgeous. This is episode number 314. You’re listening to Heart Sells! Podcast. I’m your host, Christine Schlonski and it is variety Friday. I am so super pumped you are here on Heart Sells! Podcast, I usually interview inspirational, heart-centered entrepreneurs, and business leaders about how they have built a wildly successful business and overcame their own challenges in sales. And under variety Fridays, I answer your questions, I share resources with you. And I also share my ups and downs in my business. And today’s topic as a wonderful topic is you could probably call it writer’s block, or in my case podcasting block, where I just blocked myself because I tried new things, and I got totally stuck. So I will reveal this to you today. Also how I overcame it. And I hope I can deliver you some value for your business. And for the moments where you might be procrastinating or where you totally are stuck, like I was just recently.
Before we dive into today’s episode, this episode is brought to you by Heart Sells! Academy, which I am the founder of. And we work with heart-centered ambitious entrepreneurs who love what they do, but who are reluctant to sales and really feel uncomfortable selling. We help them to shift their mindset to step into sales. So they can sell with ease, grace, and confidence that they are able to ask their price and that they are authentic in the process and true to their values. If you feel like you are getting stuck on the sales piece in your business over and over again, you might want to have a conversation so we can see how we can support you. And you have details at heartsellsacademy.com, where you find more information and where you can actually sign up to have a conversation with us. So that we can see how we can support you to have a bigger impact and more business growth.
So today’s topic is really procrastination or getting totally stuck, writer’s block podcasting block, whenever you try to create content, there might be the one moment where you feel you don’t know what to say, you don’t know how to say it. And then it could totally shut you off. And that’s just what happened to me very, very recently, because I was preparing for the 2nd Birthday of Heart Sells! Podcast that’s coming up this Sunday, the 29th of November, and I’m so super excited to celebrate over 314 episodes with you, we will be creating a celebration episode we have a giveaway going on, we have the opportunity for you to get your voice and Heart Sells! Podcast. You can find all of those details at christineschlonski.com in the podcast tab.
And so what actually happened is I tried to change a little bit around on how I introduce the podcast, I realized that every time I have a conversation, and I’m introducing my amazing, amazing guests that I kind of forget to say something about me. So when you people come to my world, they don’t even know who I am. They don’t know what I do. They don’t know why they are listening, they might have just followed a link of the guests that I interviewed because they’re interested in their work. So it dawned on me that I really had to shift a little bit around, that I had to make like an introduction. And then I was trying out several formats, and I got stuck and stuck and stuck. So Episode 311 that you might already have listened to that was the last variety Friday, I probably started to record that episode like 15 times. And you know, I stopped, I deleted, I started over, I stopped, I deleted, I started over and it was so frustrating because I was running out of time. I like having all my ducks in a row. I like posting on time. And I do not like to get behind because I also know that for the team that helps me with the podcast, you know it gets a little bit more difficult, the more time-sensitive it gets.
At the end, I was getting so bad that I was completely blocked that whenever I kind of touched the mic, everything went wrong. one episode that I recorded was an amazing episode. And then I realized I did not record and you know, there was like one thing after the next and I really had to step back for a moment, and maybe you know that when you procrastinate, when you have the feeling, you’re totally, totally stuck, that you just have to take a deep breath, right, let’s do this together because I can feel the tension by just telling you, so let’s have a breath together. And maybe another one, really letting go of whatever is holding us back. So what I like to do is, then I, you know, first I get frustrated, that’s kind of my default. And once I start seeing that, I’m basically tapping into my system, my behavioral default. And I do not wish to do that I stop, I just pause. And I did allow me to not post the podcast on time.
The good thing is when you know when you actually upload it, and you can choose the date, when you want to post it, you can basically put the date you want to have it. And, you know, obviously, it will not be published on time everywhere. But it does count in the, in a sequence that it, you know, makes it true for you to have posted on that date. Because I, you know, I didn’t want to get everything out of order because I was stuck. And if people come in at a later time, they will not realize it anyway. So I just thought you know, I’m just going to backdate it and see what happens. But deep inside, it just didn’t feel good, right? It kind of frustrates me because that’s my default.
So stepping back, taking a deep breath, and really allowing myself to screw up. Right, which I don’t know about you. But for me, that’s really difficult, giving myself permission to stop, giving myself the permission to not do something I really wanted to do. Because I feel if I don’t take that break, it’s gonna get worse and worse. And I’m going to be more stuck and stuck and stuck to the point where well I, I have not given up so far, but to the point where I might be given up and I just don’t want that to happen. So taking a deep breath, allowing myself to pause, allowing myself to have the permission to not do something on time, even though I am committed to doing it really, really helped me to relieve the pressure. And it did help me to rethink the new strategy, to kind of process it. Because I had some coaching around it. And you know, you want to make something right? You want to be more engaging. And yeah, so basically, if you want to reach out and let me know via email to info@christineschlonski.com, what you feel when you listen to Heart Sells! Podcast, how it has supported you or how it supports you, that will be very helpful.
Because from time to time, it’s really wise to step back from your work, and to have a look, and to engage with your audience, to engage with your clients, to really know what they feel what they think. And the amazing thing is that I do get a lot of positive feedback. But still, it has not helped to overcome this period of procrastination. So I stepped back, I gave myself permission not to record, not to stress myself. And then a couple of days later, I felt the urge, right like the fire was rekindled inside of me, I felt I wanted to do something. So again, I tried several approaches, I played around with words, with sequence, with an order, I still feel I haven’t figured it out perfectly. But I feel it’s good to go. And I feel it will give you value. So now I am recording. I’m back in my schedule, I’m proud to be back in my schedule, it feels good. But it also feels good to have gone through the process so that I can share with you.
Oftentimes, your clients or your listeners in case you have a podcast or you read us in case you have a blog, or viewers if you have a YouTube channel, right they just see the product they don’t see the sweat behind it. They don’t see the frustration that comes with producing things like this to make, creating content, so maybe you know when you write a blog to delete your thousand words and to start new because you’re not happy with what you have created. Or for me just you know, to delete the episode again and again and again. And then you know, being totally stuck in the process. So people just see the outcome, but they don’t see the way of how you’ve gotten there. And for me, I want to share with you the struggles in my business in my podcast creation, because I know it will help you, it will shorten your timeline.
In case you listen, and you feel that this is valuable for you, you don’t need to go there. And you know, my big desire would be that if you get stuck and creating content, you might remember this episode. And you might remember that taking a deep breath, you know, stepping back from your body of work, giving you permission, just to be and not to do is going to help you at that moment. And then hopefully, after a day, maybe after several hours, I don’t know it’s different for every one of us. But after a little while, you feel the urge to come back to your body of work because you love what you do. So that’s the case for me, I love what I do. And I don’t like to be stuck. But I had to stay in the stuckness. So it could go away. And I was able to give myself permission to be stuck. And to not get more frustrated and more frustrated with every attempt that I tried to record. So I really, really hope this makes sense for you. And is some valuable information or valuable advice that you can choose to listen to or to implement if you wish.
