I don’t know about you but I can’t wait to find out what the chocolate story is Susie talked about in episode 282 where we also talked about “How To Grow A 7-Figure Plus Mindset”. Thank you. I’m so excited to be here. Thank you for who you are and what you’re up to and what you’re doing. Appreciate you.

Yeah, thank you so much. And I’m so excited about your book coming out next week. And so we already touched up on it in the first episode, it’s poweryourprofitsbook.com and, you know, I’m still so amazed of how you wrapped it up into one book, like all the value you give and all the bonuses people get for, you know, having that little tiny investment and comparison to all the bonuses they get when they go to poweryourprofitsbook.com but another thing you know we want to talk about because people are really kind of asking, what’s the chocolate story? Like, what? What’s going on with the chocolate story we really want to know. And I really want to know because you kind of left us in the first episode clueless. So let’s get this out of the way before I have some more questions for you.

Okay, so if you haven’t heard the first episode, let me just do a quick little recap. So I don’t like chocolate. And people think I’m weird, especially women, like even when I was pmsing and never liked chocolate. But girl, you give me a pickle and I am so happy. So people are like, why don’t you like chocolate? Why don’t you like chocolate? Like, I just don’t like chocolate. And I learned how to barter chocolate with my brothers and sisters to get chores done. And I’m like, well, maybe that’s why I don’t like it because I just trained myself not to like it. And I’m just gonna be transparent Christine. I’m just gonna say.

So as a kid growing up, we didn’t have sweets. We didn’t have money. Like we had just you know what we needed to eat. There were never snacks. We didn’t have any kind of snacks. So I found, you know, how little kids are little scavengers. So I found on top of the refrigerator, these little bars of chocolate as a kid. And so I would take a little piece of it and I would eat it and it was like a bar of dark chocolate. Right? And then I put it back and I hide, right and then my mom was like, who is eating my stuff? I’m like, there’s you know, there are nine kids, nobody you can’t guess. Like they get a lot out of a kid in our family was crazy. And so then I would do it, you know, I would do again, I’d eat a little piece of chocolate. But I also noticed that my stomach like that evening, I would just be doubled over in pain. Right and then I’d have to run to the bathroom. Right? I was eating an ex-lax girl. It was chocolate ex-lax that my mom was taking or she would have it when she was constipated or whatever. So my association with chocolate is I’m going to run to the bathroom so I might.

Not a good one.

Even chocolate cake I take a bite. I’m like nope, nope. I was eating it like every couple days so I was constantly about to poop my pants so that’s my chocolate story.
Christine Schlonski [4:18]
That’s a shocking chocolate story. But you know it’s

I still got them.
Christine Schlonski [4:24]
You know it also likes in the long term it probably has done something really good for you because if you are addicted to chocolate and sweets like so many people are. It makes working out and staying healthy, so much more complicated. And so it’s you know, it’s good if you are not falling for it, let’s put it this way but what you fell for and I just love this as sales, because you understood at a very, very early age that you have to sell yourself your services so people would connect with you, they could, yeah, they could actually have the opportunity to be in alignment with who you were and then hired you. And you came up with really cool strategies of how to make it even more fun than when people hired you like to do these additional tasks, so they would think like, wow, this girl is really into something like we really enjoy having her and paying her and tipping her so and then obviously, with that mindset, you were able to put that in all of your businesses, not just the hard work, but also the strategies and it’s so essential for people to understand that if they have a gift, if they have something they want to offer to the world, they need to invite people to buy otherwise they will not have a business, they will have a hobby. What is like one of your biggest advice you could give right now for people to take action and to really make it work and then businesses and to embrace sales.
Susie Carder [6:03]
One I want you to look at, I think we’re all really good at foreplay. Right? So we go in, we talk about our product, we talk about what we do. We get people really excited. And then we sit back and wait. You know, so think about that analogy. Really get foreplay get y’all excited get you going and then you leave. It’s like, wait, what happened? What happened? Where’s the completion? Right? Yeah, the other analogy is it’s like talking about this really amazing party. Christine. I’m doing this party I’m doing let’s say this book launch because we all know my books are coming out. I’m doing this book launch. I’m inviting the who’s who the most influential people to come to this party. The movers and shakers.
Susie Carder [6:49]
I’m so excited. And then but then yeah, and you’re sitting there like well, hey, what about me? I’m a mover and shaker, aren’t I the influencer? What don’t you like about me? Can I come to your party? That’s what you’re doing. With your clients, you’re telling them all about the amazing things that you have in your business and how great it is and how good you are. And then you don’t invite me. You’ve got to invite people to purchase, you’ve got to invite people to play, your job is to educate, their job is to choose. So educate me on what you do, why you do it, and how it will impact their life. And then ask them is that something that you’re looking for? Are you ready to take action?
Susie Carder [7:24]
Once I learned key phrases, and really understood that one, which is my job is to educate your job is to choose that allows me to quit feeling like I’m selling. And I said in my seminars, I say it on life stages, I say with stages of 20 people and 20,000 people, like look, I’m not here to sell you. I’m here to serve you. So I’m going to share with you what I do, how I do, and how it impacts your life. Is that okay? Everybody says yes. So I asked permission for the sale before I sell and then I sell. And the funny thing is I will teach people this technology, right? I’ll teach them that system and then they’re like, you just did that to us. Yes, I follow my system. it’s not. It’s not hokey pokey. It’s not. It’s not.

Right. It’s the thing, right? So the invitation a purchase or the invitation a player, the invitation to take action. Just think about it like a party, just think about you’re giving people so excited, but then you’re not asking them to take action. Right? Any good coach, any good salesperson, will tell you what you don’t want to hear, show you what you don’t want to see. So that you could be the person you knew that you could be. You’ve got to have somebody willing, you have to be willing, if you know, like, you know, like, you know, your product and service will truly make a difference and an impact. Why are you passionate about that? I know I can shave 10 years off your learning curve. I know, I can look at your p&l right now. I can find you millions. I can show you where you’re losing money I can show you where you’re leaving hundreds of thousand dollars on the table. Right? So it’s like, why would I not share that?
Susie Carder [8:58]
Now you can sit back, get a client the other day we’re doing this big event. Client the other day she goes Susie, I met you in 2013 it’s 2020 right now. She goes I’ve watched you change so many people’s lives and I sat on the fence and just watched you and she was like, why did I not take action till now like I don’t know, that’s on you. Because I’m you know, I’m in your face to say you choose, do it. Because I know my life is, I have the life I love and the life I have, because I chose and, and I risk, right even now, right? I’m risking it all to get it all, risking it all to get it all to go, Okay, I’m going to trust I’m going to believe it. Here’s my strategy, my strategy in place. I’m looking at all the indicators. It’s not willy nilly. When you say that it’s not willy nilly.

It’s not a hope and a prayer. It’s a strategy. Right and following my systems. If you look at I don’t know if you guys remember Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs like when you took a psychology class in school, or maybe learned about it online, but Look at that from a sales perspective. Like when I first started selling, right it was because I was in survival, right? I was trying to get food, shelter clothing for my children, right and then once I had food, shelter, clothing, then I was into safety. Right? So each level I said, Okay, I got to make this money cuz I gotta take care of my kids. I gotta make this money because I take care of my family. I gotta make this money so I can pay my bills, that’s food, shelter, clothing, man, once I have that handle that a certain amount of income coming in, I’m like, Okay, now, I want to look at security. I never want to be in this position again. I never want to be so vulnerable and rely on somebody so much that they can pull the rug out from under me. And so then I put a strategy in place for that which is another level of sales.
Susie Carder [10:45]
Right then you get in Okay, now you’re you’ve got survival handled, safety handled. Now you’re going for belonging. I want love, affinity, and one connection. I want to help other people get through this. Right and that’s that you start in yourself psychological beliefs. And then once you get that handled, right, and this is all in sales, then you can go to your esteem, you can go to the right making a difference. You can go into respect, you can go into recognition. And that gives you confidence around your sales ability. And then the highest level is where you’re sitting Christy and it’s where I said, it’s that self-actualization. Now, at any point in time, we can go up and down that ladder, right? I can, we can always go back to survival, right? Some people are in survival right now. Right? Some people are in fear right now to go okay, but we have to notice it and go, what’s my tool? What’s my system? What strategy Do I need to put in place? Don’t get stopped by your fear, get motivated by your fear but understand where you’re at. So you can see where you’re at in the sales process because then it allows you to detach emotionally and put action and strategy in place.

Yeah, I just love that. So but you I, mean, obviously with everything you’ve done, you are so confident. And you know, you get people the results, what would you say to someone who is kind of starting out and they still may still feel this impostor syndrome, right? So they kind of know they have this amazing gift and they, you know, they have made it work before for themselves and maybe for a couple of other people, but they have not yet that amount of success, that it’s easy to say, well bring it on, I get to the results, right.
Susie Carder [12:30]
So the first thing you want to do is realize that the truth will set you free. So impostor syndrome comes because you’re not telling the truth. You’re not saying I’m nervous, you’re not saying right, that, you know, this makes me uncomfortable, like the truth will set you free. So if you say like one of my coaches, Doug Carter, who was the top 1% and Dale Carnegie said to me, you know, I was on many days I feel like I’m just a fraud. He goes, listens, let me tell you what you need to say in front of a room when you’re talking to Your plant. And it’s true. Because when you’re building a business, we feel like we have to be all done. I’ve got to be the butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker. And there is a point that we do.
Susie Carder [13:10]
But there’s also a point someone asks you a question. And you’re like, I don’t know the answer to that. Right? So here’s what I always say. I’m like, listen, I may not have all the answers, but the answers I do have, are going to make an impact on your financial life and your business future. And the great news is Christine, because of who I am, if I don’t have the answer, I will go find the answer for you or the person for you. Now that eliminates the post impostor syndrome. Because I don’t have all the answers even today, I don’t have all the answers and people will try to stump the coach and train. It’s hilarious, right?
Susie Carder [13:46]
Because I talk about business finance. I’m not a CPA. I’m not an accountant. I don’t want to be. I am my CPA, my financial accountant. I’m a business strategist. Right. So I had a CPA and the crown saying, Well, what about this, and what about that? I’m like, I’m not a CPA, I said from the very beginning. I’m a business strategist. I teach financial business from my successes and building multi-million dollar companies. Then I will bring those numbers to you, Mr. CPA, and have you figure out how much tax I should pay? Where am I leaving money on the table? How am I leveraging that’s your job. Our job is different. My job is to make the money your job is to protect the money. Oh, shut him down real quick right? Just go. I don’t have all the answers. That’s your job to answer that question, not mine. Right.
Susie Carder [14:30]
So giving people the freedom to just say, No. The second thing you want to do is you want to write down what are the results that you created for yourself. I built my business on my results. Look in 2007 when the market crashed, I crashed. Right. So I had built my wealth of $10 million, you know, between cash and assets. overnight in 2007 when the market crashed, I crashed and what took me 20 years to build was destroyed overnight. I was broke. And I was broken. I felt like I was a fraud. I felt like, you know, didn’t happen to anybody else. You know, you’re in your little isolated bubble and I remember crying. I was on the floor and I was having a pity party but crying because I was like, why, what? Why? What am I supposed to get? I’ve been a good steward. I’ve given back I’ve taken the coaching, I thought I did all the things right? Why? I don’t understand. And I don’t have 20 years to rebuild this stuff. I don’t. Right. I was humbled at that moment.
Susie Carder [14:32]
And I heard a voice of a monk called God you call it whatever you want. And he said, Listen, this will be your biggest lesson and your biggest victory. Get up. Get up. You know what to do? You know, money. Go do you. I was like, I do no money. I do know how to do this. I just forgot for a minute right because the rug was pulled out from under me. And the reality was is I understand what it takes to build a multimillion-dollar business. So then I just started doing that, to go, what are the steps that I need to take one step in front of the next step? It didn’t happen overnight. Right? I didn’t really accumulate my wealth overnight. And it was a lot of discipline, a lot of strategies, a lot of heads down, a lot of no buying shoes. Look, I like buying shoes. And I did not buy shoes for almost three years. I did not buy a new pair of shoes. Right?
Christine Schlonski [16:26]
You were totally focused. And I think that’s what it takes. But the beautiful thing is like, once you’ve learned something, you know, you cannot really unlearn it, you will know it for the rest of your life. So once you create that success, you can repeat it.
Susie Carder [16:41]
Yes, it’s a predictable success, predictable success. It’s like once you teach people a sales system, right? It didn’t take me 20 years because the 20 years previously, I didn’t know what the heck I was doing. I had to find a new one and go okay, how do I do the sales thing and then I had to go find someone in business finance. Okay. How do I do that? And then I had to go find someone marketing. I had to find some on social media, find someone online. Now I sit back and I have this wealth of knowledge to go, Oh, you just need to do this, this, this, this and this. And now I am simplifying it because you gotta do it. Like people come to me and they think of sprinkle fairy does. No, I’ve a strategy: you have to do the work. I can’t do it for you. I can’t do your abs setups. I can’t do your curls. You got to go into the gym, right and you do the exercise to get the body you want.
Susie Carder [17:28]
But I’ll show you how to do it. I’ll show you how to put your budget together. We’ll put the strategy together, together. Right in my book, I outline that if you get this most people will read the book and put it on the shelf. If you do that you’re doing a disservice to yourself and your legacy. We’re doing this because it’s our legacy. Christine is doing this because it’s our legacy. It was our biggest challenge and it became our biggest opportunity. I’m doing this because I felt like a dingdong and people made me feel stupid because I didn’t understand it. I wasn’t speaking the language.
Susie Carder [17:59]
I didn’t go to business school, you know the school of hard knocks right bloody knees bloody elbows, figuring out doing it wrongdoing it right. And then people not wanting to tell you they gave me little pieces of it and said, Oh, do this, but that’s bubblegum, shoestring, Band-Aid, duct tape. That’s not a strategy. So what happens is you go get a little piece here, a little piece here, a little piece here, and nothing are congruent. So you have no success because there’s no plan. So we’re passionate and I say, we because I respect what Christine is up to. And I respect that it’s my Lego block, right? You need me but you need her because we’re plugging the Legos together to build an empire and build a castle. So to go, oh, who are those people that are giving me the tools and the strategies, not the ideas, ideas are dime a dozen and ideas don’t work? Ideas don’t work. Strategy works.

Yeah, Amen. So I would love to finish off with one more question and then talk about your amazing gift which is an assessment I just love and then we have to talk about your book real quick again before we need to wrap it up. So what means Heart Sells for you?

What means Heart Sells for me, you know what, I cannot make a change in a person’s life unless I sell something. And so I’m selling possibilities. I’m selling transformation. I’m selling, I change people’s lives. And nothing happens until I sell. And that was a hard lesson for me. Because I didn’t like to sell. I didn’t like to talk to strangers, but I started looking at the outcome that if I don’t have bold conversations if I don’t do the invitation to purchase then I truly can’t transform your life. I truly can’t transform your children’s life. And I know it sounds kind of corny but we’re going to affect your children’s children but my children’s life is forever changed. Because I made a decision to create the business that I have, they’ve never had to experience poverty as I did. They never had to experience the shame that I did. They never had to have used underwear like I did, right? They never, they didn’t have to have those experiences, because I chose to do something different for my family, which is my legacy. And then

I chose to make a stand for other businessmen and businesswomen to go, you can create whatever you want to create. It’s, it’s the world we live in now, possibilities everywhere and money. pristine is everywhere, everywhere. So one of our bonuses in the book. So when you buy the book, you get these juicy bonuses and one of the bonuses, it’s a $2500 course look, you spend $28 on the book, “Power Your Profits”, and I’ll give you about $1500 worth of bonuses because I know that you can’t just read the book I got to work on your mindset and your money mindset. And so it’s wisdom and wealth and you creating what is my money creation. So where is my money conversation? I love assessments. every chapter has a juicy assessment to look at, well, how am I in sales? So if you know you suck at sales, go find an expert, right that you respect and that you trust, get the system, their systems for everything that we do in business. Don’t rely on chance. Don’t rely on an idea. Get the structure because the structure is duplicatable. It’s like when we cook, you follow a recipe and once you become a really good cook, you start winging it and start adding your own spices and your own, you know, sauces and creams and because now you’re an expert, but go get the original recipe for sales. Go get the original recipe for marketing, for operations for finance, right go look at how do you create that and then put your secret sauce in. Juicy.
Christine Schlonski [21:52]
Totally, totally juicy and so needed because what people need to understand is you can create success and you can. That’s what I love about sales. You can make a new decision in each and every moment. Right? Maybe you just crashed because somebody said no. And you misunderstood. They’re not now there’s no never, ever Don’t talk to me again yet. I don’t like you, right? But you can, you can make a new decision and you can embrace sales and you can move forward, you can create massive, massive success. And that’s a decision you can make any minute, not even day to day, right? You can decide in the morning and in the evening, and I just love that about sales because you’re so flexible. And what I love to finish off with Suzy is you have brought this amazing assessment to us. So can you tell us about this and then obviously, we have to talk about your wonderful book that’s coming out now. And people need to get their hands on it, but I will let you talk because you know exactly what’s in it and why people need to get it to uplevel not just business but the whole life and lifestyle.

So I don’t know about you, but I love, love, love, you know, assessments. I love magazines and have assessments. I love quizzes, I like to figure out for myself what I’m good at what I’m not good at. So the assessment really just has you rate your business, rate yourself where you’re at. And I do this every year in my business because every year my business is different, right? It’s not the same, I might be selling the same product or services, but it’s completely different than the year before. So the assessment just as you look and rain on a scale of 1 to 10 what’s working, what’s not working, and then you just go to work. It’s a little roadmap, short, sweet, allowing you to really pinpoint and then I have a video that goes with it. Right? So I don’t leave you hanging in and dislike now. I’m gonna give you tools and a strategy. So you know what now what is?

Yeah, I love that. And that ties into the other question about your book because your book comes with a real now what, a gift and bonuses where you guide people through, like really changing their money mindset, their money blueprint for the better.

Yeah, so the book, can I just tell you this is, you know, 30 years in the making, this is book number 10. The juicy part of this is all the learning lessons from taking your business from 10,000 to 10 million. Every chapter has an assessment because again, I’m a systems girl, and I want to see where my underdeveloped strengths are, right. And I say about strengths because it’s not a weakness, you just haven’t learned that skill set yet. And so the sale is a huge component of our business. 15% of our financial success is based on our technical ability. So for us, it’s speakers, its orders, its writers, but the other 85% is what we build into the book, the sales, the marketing, operations of finance, but look, I take this complicated thing called a business and simplify it, right so that we can get results immediately. Right well, let’s build an empire let’s build your legacy.

Yeah, I love that immediately because people are really looking for results, fast results. And there are so many wells out there there are so many offers like the get rich quick schemes. And I love that you put your processes in there and what has worked and what hasn’t worked and, and really put in all that knowledge and packaged it up. So people have a real success roadmap and can see like, how did you get to your 10 million business? How did you do it and how can they be inspired? And if they take action get there as well.
