    Love this podcast! The lifeblood of any business is sales and Christine does an amazing job of making sales something you'll fall in love with instead of dread. 3 Key Points:

  • Hold the space. Stay with them in the pain. Don’t take the pain on, it’s their pain, but you have to hold the space because it might be for the very, very first time that they are expressing what’s going on in their life.
  • You need to see if you are the right person. So now you want to go and imagine what it would be like if the pain went away if there was a solution. And this is also something that the client needs to do.
  • If you have figured out that you are the perfect person, to assist them, to help them to overcome these challenges, you need to make an offer. You need to guide the person to let them know how you can work together. If you’re not a match, obviously, you want to give them a resource, maybe you can recommend the book, maybe you can recommend another person that you feel is a better match for their challenge.

[00:39] What I see a lot of people do is that the client or potential client describes what’s going on in their life and why they were motivated to have the call. Obviously, they will talk about pain, because that is the motivation to have a conversation with you.

[00:59] A lot of heart-centered entrepreneurs start listening but then they jump in to solve the problem to help the other person, to make the pain go away. This is something that you should not be doing because you will do your potential client a huge disservice.

[01:23] Hold the space. Stay with them in the pain. Don’t take the pain on, it’s their pain, but you have to hold the space because it might be for the very, very first time that they are expressing what’s going on in their life.

[01:48] You need to hold the space so that they can process where they are and understand their situation much better. If you jump in right away and you try to fix the problem. That’s just putting a bandaid on, but it’s not helping the wound to heal.

[03:06] You need to see if you are the right person. So now you want to go and imagine what it would be like if the pain went away if there was a solution. And this is also something that the client needs to do.

[04:30] If it’s don’t want to work, don’t drop them like a hot potato, give them something to work with. Let them feel really, really good leaving the conversation with an action step.

[05:25] It is really important that you do not shift your energy. Stay as confident as you were when you help the space for the pain. When you help the space for possibilities. Now you need to hold the space for making that offer.

[05:42] In case you’re not really sure or you’re not yet that confident, drop into your heart. Take a deep breath yourself. You have all the time in the world to make that offer. Nobody’s pressed for time, you’re there to serve. So take your time, make your offer.

Hi Gorgeous. This is episode number 152. You are listening to Heart Sells! Podcast. I’m your host, Christine Schlonski. I am so grateful that you are here and tuning in for another variety Friday. So last week, I shared a couple tips with you on how to prepare before you even pick up the phone. Today, I want to go into three things you really, really have to do when you are on the phone with a person that’s interested in your offers, in your services. What I see a lot of people do is that the client or potential client describes what’s going on in their life and why they were motivated to have the call. Obviously, they will talk about pain, because that is the motivation to have a conversation with you. A lot of heart-centered entrepreneurs start listening but then they jump in to solve the problem to help the other person, to make the pain go away. This is something that you should not be doing because you will do your potential client a huge disservice.

So number one of my advice today would behold the space. Stay with them in the pain. Don’t take the pain on, it’s their pain, but you have to hold the space because it might be for the very, very first time that they are expressing what’s going on in their life. They are expressing it to the very first human in their life and that might be you. So you need to hold the space so that they can process where they are and understand their situation much better. If you jump in right away and you try to fix the problem. That’s just putting a bandaid on, but it’s not helping the wound to heal. So number one, really, really super important is holding the space for the pain. So now you don’t want the potential client like crying flowers and really, really going into all the pain they ever experienced in their life. So obviously, you need to monitor this part as well. You need to make sure that it does relate to the problem you solve. It’s always good to have an overview. But it’s also good to understand exactly why the person is coming to you and why they are coming right now. Not going to somewhere else, not calling a week later or five weeks from now. Why now. Why you. You really need to figure that out. So once you get those pieces, then there’s the next piece.

Number two is, now you know you have explored the pain, you hold the space for the pain. Now you need to see if you are the right person. So now you want to go and imagine what it would be like if the pain went away if there was a solution. And this is also something that the client needs to do, right? You can maybe give them little pieces of advice or little ideas, but it’s their life so they have to come up with an amazing way life could look like once the problem is gone. So you also want to hold the space for the beauty, for the possibilities.

Then last but not least, if you have figured out that you are the perfect person, to assist them, to help them to overcome these challenges, you need to make an offer. You need to guide the person to let them know how you can work together. If you’re not a match, obviously, you want to give them a resource, maybe you can recommend the book, maybe you can recommend another person that you feel is a better match for their challenge. And you want to make sure that you make a decision for yourself. “Is this the person I want to work with?”, or, “Is this the person I don’t want to work with?” If it’s don’t want to work, don’t drop them like a hot potato, give them something to work with. Let them feel really, really good leaving the conversation with an action step.

Give them something. Like order this book from Amazon, or contact my colleague, XY that or, “I’m happy to make an introduction”, like supporting them. Give them your love even though you don’t want to work with them. You want to leave them off In a much better place than they were then when they started the conversation with you. If on the other hand, they are your soul mate client, they are your ideal client, they will put a smile on your face every time the name shows up in your calendar. You really have that deep connection. Well, obviously you need to tell them what it looks like working with you. And here it is really important that you do not shift your energy. Stay as confident as you were when you help the space for the pain. When you help the space for possibilities. Now you need to hold the space for making that offer.

In case you’re not really sure or you’re not yet that confident, drop into your heart. Take a deep breath yourself. You have all the time in the world to make that offer. Nobody’s pressed for time, you’re there to serve. So take your time, make your offer. Then don’t forget to ask them if they want to work with you. That is part of your offer, you’re not just going to throw that offer to them. You want to know how does it sound? Can you see yourself working together? You want to figure out like, what is the challenge if there is any? And if they want to say yes, well, obviously, you want to proceed and book them into your calendar so you can get started right away. Or if you have a course that starts at a certain time, you can set them up right away. Maybe you have some pre-work they can already do so they can start taking the next steps in the right direction.

So summarizing, you learned today that you need to hold the space for the pain of your potential clients. You also need to hold the space for seeing the possibilities, which is obviously the part everybody enjoys the most. So make sure that the paint doesn’t get too short. That you also hold the big space for that pain, none the possibilities and number three is you need to make an offer. If it is your soul mate client, you need to invite them to work with you. You need to let them know how this looks like and how much the investment is to do so.

I really hope that this was supportive. That next time you have a great conversation you are not shying out when it comes to the offer part. Just close your eyes. Take a deep breath and just go for it and hold that space for you and your client. With everything you’ve given them so far by holding the space for the pain, by holding the space for the possibility, they will now feel honored and they will now feel safe when you make your offer. So take your time, take your own space, make that offer and invite them to work with you. And then get started. Get your gifts out into the world. They will love it. You will love it. Everybody is going to win. I hope this was helpful.
