Hi Gorgeous, this is episode number 023 with your host today Christine Schlonski and you are listening to Heart Sells! Podcast. I am so pumped we are up for another variety Friday. Variety Friday is a day where I answer your questions where I share amazing resources with you. Were I give some tips and advice and we’re actually share my knowledge of all the experience that I have had in sales and how that influenced my business and my life. So I am super pumped that you are here today because today we are talking about the mistake that 99% of all entrepreneurs, who are starting out, are making. So let’s dive in to the mistakes. So what I have seen over and over again and it’s actually something I did as well. When I started out all my entrepreneurial journey, I had the strong belief that I needed to sit down with my idea and I needed to create a product which means like when you start out, you want to get people on your email list. You want to get people to engage with you. So you have to come up with an idea that you know, people actually want. So I see tons and tons of entrepreneurs who sit down who start creating, for example, a free opt-in, right, so a free gift for people that they can share on the homepage or on social media so they start to collect the email addresses of potential customers and of their potential tribe. So what’s wrong with this idea? Well, there’s nothing wrong with this idea because you want to grow your tribe, but so many people when they start creating the gift, and that’s not even they have not even created a product yet, they just start with the free gift. They get stuck. Because they don’t really know how to do it. And then they have an idea, but it’s not tested in the market. So what if you would have an idea and you would just test it first before you sit down and invest a lot of time and eventually money to test something out.

So here is what I would suggest. I have learned on my journey that it is not a smart thing to sit down and to create the whole thing. It is not a smart way to sit down and for example, create a whole video course or a whole ebook or an audio series or whatever. It is also smart or it’s sorry it’s so much smarter to just sell something first and then create it. So we have it often we have it upside down and 99% of entrepreneurs who are starting out they are not familiar with this idea. So I really want to emphasize that if you are still in the mindset that you need to create and then they will come that will not be the case. You really need to test your market. So what I would suggest you need a digital product. And then people don’t know you so they will not just come and buy your digital product. They want to know more so you need an opt in. And I’m gonna concentrate today on the opt in the free gift that you are giving to people in exchange for their email address.

So what you do is you come up with three titles to the same topic. And then you just split test it. So you go to your clients, and you see which of the titles resonates most. And you could put that up on your homepage. You can share it on social media, you can get people to actually opt in at when they opt in you could say something like, but thank you so much for your interest. That was really, really fast. I’m still in creation mode. As soon as this gift is ready to send, I will put it into your inbox. And then obviously you don’t want to wait for months. But if you do it that way, you haven’t worked on the free gift you had an idea you are now testing the idea in the market. And then you’re going with the idea that gets the most response or request because that is idea that will take off.

And so when I created my first free gift, for example, I really sat down. It took me a long time, I wrote like a mini ebook, and it had like 20 pages and I poured my heart in it. And I got stuck on the way I didn’t really know like, what would my audience love? What do they really want to hear? How can I be of service? How can I have the biggest impact? What kind of knowledge should I be sharing? So I had like all these thoughts, and probably you have them too and then you sit there you have this brilliant idea, but you don’t even know if it’s brilliant only for you or for your market. So as a heart centered entrepreneur, we want to give our gifts to the world and sometimes we do forget about the entrepreneurial part that is on the journey to help us to be more successful. So eventually what you need to do is to sit down with your brilliant idea. Create three titles have three different graphics. If you know if it’s, for example, an ebook like I started with, just have three different graphics, three different titles and just test it, put it out to people let people opt in. And then once you decided which one is the strongest, you just send that to everybody because from the content that you are providing it might probably be the same. But maybe your audience likes “the five secrets to sales success” better than the three major things you need to avoid when you want to sell successfully, right? It’s two different titles. And I wouldn’t really know I would guess that my audience likes “the three secrets” better or the five secrets. But if I haven’t tested I wouldn’t really know.

So before you spend days or maybe even weeks on creating something that you don’t know how good it’s going to perform, and how much you can serve as it and how well you can serve as it make sure you are testing it out. Right. So when you are now about to create your next gift, make a test first and next Friday I am going to talk to you how you can actually create products because I’m just learning that strategy myself. It’s a simple strategy and I don’t know why it took so long to come my way. So you probably have everything in place you need already but you might have it in the wrong order.
